Anxiety is the feeling of uneasiness,nervousness or apprehension about a particular event or events.
You tend to feel queasy and wanting to run from the situation.
The root cause of the anxiety is in our thought patterns often about what might happen which are often unrealistic and blown out of proportion.
Now get this,because it is extremely crucial–
“Depression is the result of pondering over ‘past’ negative events again and again where as anxiety is caused when we think about ‘future negative events’,which have 95% chance of not happening at all!”
Read the above paragraph again.Make sure it sinks in.
Now,Ofcourse,your anxiety can be a result of a past embarrassing experience.
Let’s say you were at a party and everything is going smooth and you are having the time of your life.Then,out of nowhere,by a disastrous stroke of luck,you spill your coca-cola on yourself which results in you feeling embarrassed infront of everybody.Even though the event of spilling cola on yourself was not humiliating in itself,you made it so in your mind.Fast forward today,you are highly anxious when you go to parties.Why? Because you ‘think’ something ‘bad might happen’. You see the connection?
Anxiety is a direct result of feelings of uncertainty.
HOW ANXIETY IS DANGEROUS
Anxiety is a problem and it is harder to get rid of.The reason is the more you ‘try’ to get rid of it,the more it strengthens.The harder you try,the stronger it gets.’Trying’ to get rid of anxiety forcefully is next to impossible.There is no chance you can get rid of anxiety by resisting it because it will end up resulting in more anxiety.
SYMPTOMS OF ANXIETY
Anxiety produces a number of physiological symptoms.Some of the symptoms include:
1-Stuttering: If you stutter,it’s because you analyse a lot to what to
say before you say something so that it’s damn perfect and everybody
2-Shaky Voice: Evident that you are afraid of the situation.
3-Sweaty Palms: If you have sweat all over your palm only in certain situations.
4-Withdrawal or resigning from a situation: If you want to run away from a
situation,it’s a sign that you are anxious of the situation.
5-Increased Heart Rate: Another sign you cannot hide.Your heart rate
will increase when faced with anxiety triggering situation.(Yup,it is not ‘love’,it’s anxiety.)
6-Sweating profusely(when it’s not hot out,obviously)
8-Shaking or trembling hands and legs.
9- Shallow and increased breathing rate.Some people also tend to hold
their breath altogether in the situations that make them anxious.
10-Fidgeting with any object to divert their attention from the
situation is the way some people cope with anxiety ,which is totally
wrong as it sustains the belief that the situation,indeed is something
to be anxious about.
