The competition is a myth.
There,I said it and you heard it.
Competition is no more than imaginary barrier that people who are dead scared to put every ounce of potential in them create,so they will have an excuse to fall back to when they don’t achieve what they aim for.
Ask a dozen of people what reasonates in them when they hear the word ‘Competition’, and you will get variable responses.
Competition,by it’s core definition,is the number of people striving for the same goal at the same time.
All good and fair.
As the population keeps increasing at an alarming rate,so does the competition.
Why? Glad you asked!
7 REASONS WHY COMPETITION IS A MYTH
Competition just doesn’t exists because you are against a mass of rivals who share the traits and behaviours listed below. The only thing you have to be concerned about is not adopting them yourself.Eliminate these if you have them and stay away from them as much as possible.Even one of the trait is going to ruin your success to a large extent,so it is strongly suggested that you watch them out.
Most people suffer from indolence. They give in too easily or they don’t put their best foot forward. They somehow convince THEMSELVES that they are doing all the sweat required to fulfill their goals, when infact, they are only doing a small percentage of what they ACTUALLY can do.Reality is that about staggering 80 percentage of the population won’t even make a slight effort to achieve their dream life….not even a single step! They only wish and dream of the life they can live but CHOOSE NOT TO just because they don’t want to get out of their rut and because they think they CAN’T. Yeah right. They also have formulated a dozen of reasons why they can’t do whatever it is they want.
The potential of a human is absolutely incredible. The penniless and abysmal have raised themselves to prosperity and fame beyond all imagination when resolutely decided to do so.The bewildering thing is the sheer number of people who are becoming paralysed by the ailment of torpor only to dirty their mouths with curses later using ‘competition’ as a scapegoat. They always blame someone or something else, not realising that the only person hampering their progress is themselves.
People also tend to mask their laziness in form of “waiting for the ‘right’ opportunity” (as if waiting for the opportunity was not enough in itself a fool’s errand.)Countless dreams and ambitions are wrapped in shrouds for want of an opportunity or the ‘right’ opportunity.
Opportunity is being at the right place at the right time which may or may not happen.
Waiting for it to chase your dreams is fruitless.
When you throw a ball for a pet dog, does he waits for the opportunity to get it?
He darts himself towards the ball.No left or right. He knows no competition even if 100 other dogs run with him.
YOUR JOB–Break free of sluggishness in you. It’s better to live your life with the assumption that the opportunities that you are so zealously waiting for, will never come. This way you will take steps towards your goals instead of expecting something miraculous to happen.Miracles only happen in fairy-tales and not your god damn life.
Reality Check 101: Another point-the opportunities are always there and present right before you, but more often than not,are cloaked as problems and obstacles. The situation that you see yourself stuck in, is an opportunity waiting to be harnessed and exploited…laziness blinds you to the opportunities right in front of your face.
Laziness will comfort you but will never bring you towards your
goals.Shun laziness and actively pursue your dreams.
Another thing to keep in mind.98 percent of the total population believes in the concept of hard work–grit your teeth and ram your head type, which is good and required, but this is an antique concept. In today’s day and age, one has to be smart as well as a hard worker.Smard (Smart+Hard) workers are the achievers and do their jobs more efficiently and in amazingly less time. For the illustration,I recall the incident of Timothy Ferris. He made millions selling his beverage BrainQUICKEN LLC.
How did he do it? Did he setup his own factories for the purpose?Hell no.That would have been quiet a lot of work and expense. He figured that he can outsource the manufacturing of the product and advertisement design, then sell it,and that’s exactly what he did.He made a smart move along with working hard.Working hard is no more applicable if you want to excel, working smard is the new way.
I NEVER underestimate the value of hard work,it is needed and demanded before you can enjoy the fruits of your labor, but the next step logical step is to evolve.Dinosaurs went extinct because they didn’t adapt and evolve to the changing environment. To stay in the game you must take yourself up the notch a little. You CANNOT attain the success you desire if you are thriving on the principles and rules which were created 20 years ago. They are obsolete.Gone.New rules are laid, learn them. The difference between working hard and working smard is huge and the results, distant and distinct.
YOUR JOB–Figure out how to do the things more easily and in lesser time than it takes now (Parkinson’s Law). There is always a better and smarter way.Hunt it down and exploit it.As an example, instead of learning your academics by rote, make use of techniques like Visualization, memory pegs, mnemonics and keywords. This will significantly reduce the learning time and you will retain things for much much longer.
Another bunch of people are absolutely clueless about the field they are rivaling in.They are out and participating because their parents said so or society wants them to and because ‘everyone is doing it’ or ‘it is a responsible thing to do’.
Truth be told, almost all inventions and revolutions were brought to life when a person went ‘irresponsible‘ and did what he wanted to do rather than what others wanted and expected from him.
‘Everyone is doing it’? That is why not everyone is a millionaire and living a lavish lifestyle. The piece of advice of ‘everyone’ are given by people who are not successful themselves, which include your relatives, your friends and so called ‘gurus’.
The mediocre advice is CONVENTIONAL but a great advice is CONTROVERSIAL.
Do you spend most of your free time hanging out with your buddies or watching lot of movies?
Wrong approach to life.
You lack warrior mentality.A warrior rests at the end of the day.He sharps his sword and skills to perfection all day if he has to survive in the battlefield.
Today’s battlefield is life.If you have to survive it,cut back on the rest you take and learn relentlessly.Become an expert in the field of your passion.
YOUR JOB–Your duty as a winner is to gain knowledge about your field in as painstaking detail as possible and then some more.Running away with tail between your legs because you ‘didn’t know that’ is laughable.Internet is a vast pool of knowledge and you can draw the amount of knowledge you want. The only limiting factor is your desire to succeed and trounce everyone else.
Learn and ALWAYS APPLY the knowledge.
One of the things which has incremented exponentially with the dawn of latest tech is the distraction.Guys and girls, who otherwise should be building their lives and planning always a step ahead, have fallen victim to the trap of inevitable distractions.Movies to obscenities, are all served on the palm of their hands in nominal prices.Instead of using the advancements and facilties for information purposes, time is drained on the entertainment, which proves perilous to their future.Good thing for you.
YOUR JOB–Minimise,if not avoid distractions in your life.Checking your Facebook profile 10 times an hour will do you no greater good.Seriously.
On the other hand you can exploit the same time, strengthening your knowledge about the playground you are in.
The world will NEVER run short of the ways to sweep you off of your ambitions- new movies, tweets, viral videos are all distractions. You have a choice to give in to them or pass them to make your life worth living.
It all comes down to the choices and decisions you make in your life.
That brings up our next point:
It never fails to bemuse me to see a huge portion of guys and girls making decisions which have hazardous consequences. Most teens are hung up on the ideas of relationships (some even marriage),partying, spending and the new smart phone that launched on Saturday.
Every decision you make has the potential to alter your life.Making an alcoholic your friend will steer your life in the same direction.A lazy bum will make you just like him.The old saying of “If you hang out with the dogs, you will get fleas” is very accurate.
If you make the decision of making your girlfriend or boyfriend, the pivot of your life instead of your goals, you are going to suffer unspecified repercussions.
Countless teens make wrong decisions all the time partly because of peer pressure and partly because no one is there to tell them otherwise. In any way,you got an advantage over them.
YOUR JOB–I do understand the hormonal rage at your age to yield to the temptation of disastrous decisions, still it is wiser to first think before you engage in any action.Weigh your decisions in terms of consequences. What will be the worst case scenarios of the decision you are going to make?Is it something that you can make up to?Or is it going to dent an irreparable damage to your life?Even the most innocuous choice may prove catastrophic.A simple sip of a drink here and there will turn you into an addict in no time.Making a choice of watching a movie for the third time instead of learning something will hit you hard sooner or later.Karma keeps an eye, remember?
Make your decisions count.
Another portion of the people approach not only their careers but even their lives with dejected attitude. They are already defeated. For them, the odds are insurmountable and impenetrable. These are hopeless and don’t strive for anything great because they have already lost the war in their minds.Another bunch of people out.
The problem are not these people themselves, but their mentality which is highly infectious.Spend any amount of time in their company and you will soon start adopting their attitude and views. It is highly contagious because their opinions sound “realistic” and “down to earth.”Duh,humans flying in the air, comfortably sitting on a seat was far from ‘realism’ back in the days.Had Wright brothers been ‘realistic’,we wouldn’t have the pleasure of travelling at massive
‘Reality’ is only limited by the human imagination.
YOUR JOB— Get attitude adjustment, if you recognise yourself as a mediocre ( or realistic or whatever you call it.)
Read autobiographies of successful leaders and entrepreneurs. You will only get to the extent of what you think you CAN get.
“If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.”
So think in terms of YOU CAN.
Your brain proves to you what you believe,so it makes perfect sense to believe better about yourself.
7)LACK OF PERSISTENCE
The number one trait which fails so many individuals, more than
anything else is the lack of persistence.
I have stressed this many times before and will keep repeating it
because it’s that important-PERSISTENCE PAYS!
In a wrestling match between two rivals, the winner is not the more powerful, but the one who is persistent enough to win.
You don’t lose when you fall down, but when you don’t get up.
As long as you get on your feet, you are still in the fight.
Always stay on your feet.
Persistence does not mean to quit after 100th failure, nope,it means to be in the fight even after you get knocked down 500 times.
If you don’t persist, you fail and then you conclude “it doesn’t work”.
It’s hard,yes of course.Why it shouldn’t be?
It’s hard because the position at the top is reserved for the winners who persist and NEVER give up even in the face of extreme adversities.
YOUR JOB–Did you fail at a certain task? The solution is simple–do it again.Only this time,a little better and a little different than before. You win when you don’t have giving up as an option.
You win when you commit yourself to winning.
Don’t just ‘try’,COMMIT!
When most will give up after the third attempt, you will emerge on top because you didn’t quit even after tenth attempt.
Now you know what you must avoid and also what you must do to win every single time.Don’t make any excuse, you have got none.
Go convert your dreams to reality.
Until Next Time…
