I got a good analogy for you today.
I always rant about how persistence is the key to achieving your dreams and is assured path to your goals, well, today I am giving you an example to prove my point.
Let us assume that you want to break a wall.
What do you do?
You pick up a hammer and you give the wall a godly strike, resembling the Thor.
The wall doesn’t show even a scratch.
You strike again.
You strike harder.
This time slight paint comes off the wall, but it still doesn’t exhibit any sign of serious damage.
Glad that your efforts are obtaining some results, you continue to strike harder. After some pretty hard knocks, you manage to make a fissure on the wall.
You keep striking it over and over with all your might, until you create a massive passage, which is large enough to even let you through it.
This is how winning is done.
You should keep striking at your goal with all your might,so to speak, over and over until you succeed.
Concentrated efforts over a short period yield tangible results.
The only bet is to not put the hammer down, and keep striking at the wall with all your strength.
Most people don’t really get anywhere in life because they take one step forward and two steps back.
There is no stepping back in life.
You got to keep moving forward with everything you have got.Crawl if you have to,but don’t stop or move back. You slide backwards when you don’t move forward. That’s just how life works.
When people ask me how much time and effort they must put before they are going to experience any real success,I reply them back all the same :
“You are not going to get there.Quit now!“
I might piss them off real bad, but hey,if you are not willing to put the required work and want it to end as soon as possible, then you are definitely going to quit down the road very soon. Why not do it right now?
Success require that you put consistent hard work to get it.If you are in disagreement to that declaration to any degree, better quit today.
You might have heard or read the phrase-“Happiness Is A Journey And Not A Destination.”
Well,if you think about it,success is a journey too.You don’t just wake up one day and become successful, living the lifestyle you desire.Never happens that way and never will be.
Success is a process of smart decisions, calculated risks, and hard work.
You acquire success when you squeeze every ounce of will power in you, and work hard today to live a great life tomorrow.
To meet your goals, you must pay the price. If you are not willing to pay the price-which is your time and your efforts, success will always elude you.
My intention here is not to demotivate you.Not at all,I don’t want to lose my readers after all.
My only motive is to make you realize, that you have deluded yourself if you believe that success knocks on the doorsteps, wrapped in the most scintillating covers with a bottle of champagne, without you having to do anything.
It will take consistent striking on the wall to crumble it into pieces, but it is something that anybody can do.
Millionaires didn’t wake up one day and had a million dollar in their bank accounts. They worked for it.It was a long arduous process.
I reiterate,gentlemen-Success is a process.
Movie stars and rock-stars didn’t accomplish fame in one shot. The debut movies of almost all actors and actresses sucked to the core. The ones who kept going, refining their skills all the way through are the ones we talk about today.
Another point to note-never hand over the hammer to anyone else. This means you must never depend on some other person to put in the work for your success and victories. There are two very good reasons for this:
First, you can never really trust on the other person.
Your success becomes vulnerable to the whims of other being when you ‘partner’ with anybody, which is NEVER a good plan.Heck,I don’t even consider this a plan. This is like putting a gun barrel in your mouth and handing the trigger to somebody else. You have no idea when he would decide to pull that trigger off…
Second, success when vicarious, feels hollow and leaves you fool. Most people who are born with a silver spoon, are bestowed upon wealth which they have no knowledge about how to create when it’s lost.
The path to success is through wisdom, and wisdom and knowledge can only be gained by consistent hard work.
Success tastes best when achieved by self…pretty much like the food
you make.No matter how crappy you make it,you will always love it.You made it with your hands. You gave it your time and hardship and thus,it tastes fantastic when it is ready.
No matter how small or irrelevant your success seems to the world, but if you have put in the sweat to achieving it,you feel exhilarated. This excitement and euphoria is intoxicating and addicting. You would want it even more and thus, the journey of your new life would begin.
Also, get used to being a little lonely sometimes too.You have to cut through the dense forest all alone, because most people like to take the road which is used most frequently.
You,on the other hand, must choose a road less explored and little ventured.
Is it scary?
Is it worth going through it?
Remember the words of Helen Keller-
“Life Is Either A Daring Adventure…Or Nothing.”
Keep moving forward towards your dream, and have trust that everything will work out.
Do the required work and learn something new every damn day.
Some Thoughts About Learning…
You must learn something everyday. It is the easiest and best thing you could do which will put you ahead of the pack.
Whatever you learn even might not seem important right this moment, but it never goes away.It stays with you,and one day you will benefit from it.That’s a fact.
Many of you might not know this, but when Steve Jobs dropped out of college (which he found boring),he looked for something which would interest him.The Reed College,in Portland,Oregon then used to offer courses in calligraphy.(Note:Calligraphy is the art and study of fancy handwriting.)
Jobs found the calligraphy intriguing, and he enrolled himself in the course. He learnt the odds and ends of beautiful lettering, fancy writing and everything from the required amount space between the fonts to perfect strokes for the alphabets.
Jobs said in his speech in the Stanford University, that at that time it didn’t make any sense to learn calligraphy, but it was one of the best things he ever did.Wanna know why?
Let me quote the man himself:
“None of this (calligraphy)had even a hope of any practical application in my life.
But ten years later, when we were designing the first Mackintosh computer,it all came back to me…and we designed it all into the Mac.It was the first computer with beautiful typography. If I had never dropped in on that single calligraphy course in college, the Mac would have never had multiple typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts…and since Windows just copied the Mac,it’s likely that no person with computer would have it.“
This man followed what interested him the most and learnt the calligraphy which seemed pretty much useless to him at that moment, but ten years later gave the world a computer with the most beautiful fonts.
Education,in any way, shape or form is never of ‘no use‘.Sure,it may be of no use right now,but down the road, you will be glad that you invested in learning something.
So make sure your education doesn’t end with the graduation or is not limited to the semester books of your college. You must keep educating yourself every–single–day.
I also want to address something else that I have been observing lately:
“I am too young for that!”
People have diabolical abilities of rationalizations to defend their opinions, views…and comfort. They don’t want to be stressed.Life should be as calm as an unrippled lake for them, and in order to achieve this purpose, they craft brilliant reasons for their mediocrity and in-accomplishments.
The older ones are always trying to act all smart and “talk sense into you” by telling you “what is right” and what “you should do” while they don’t follow their own philosophy because they are “too old for that.“
I don’t care, honestly. They wasted their prime years, probably goofing around, but now are always imposing their sense of righteousness upon you for “your own sake.“
Yeah right.Shut up.
The younger ones suffer from a different kind of disease “I am too young” syndrome.
Ask them to try their hands anything involving business or some novel act,you will be taken aback by their instant automated response-“I’m too young for that!“
This “I am too young” is so prevalent and loud,it’s almost deafening.
You can be too old for something but,if you are above eighteen years, you are not young.
You are old enough.
For that business, for being the greatest magician, the greatest artist or being a millionaire.
You are old enough.Period.
The excuses you put up,actually are the limitations you impose on yourself.
Any excuse you give to yourself is a barbed wire you tie in front of you.
So let me ask you this-What are YOUR barbed wires?
What limitations have you put on yourself?
Are you going to cut those wires now and experience the success of your life?Or are you going to sit and tie even more wires to prove it all to yourself that you are, indeed, incapable of achieving whatever it is that you want.
Don’t give yourself shitty reasons. You know what the truth is,so don’t try to fuck yourself up.Decide what you want and go for it.Maybe it will take years of sweat and blood to reach there, but boy, once you are there, you will be a man of gold.
Consider yourself lucky if you have all your limbs in perfect shape and if you can read this.It means you are born perfectly normal. What else does a man need to forge the future he desires?
Remember this-you must work harder and smarter than everybody else, to live a life greater than everybody else. You must put yourself-your body and mind, under strain more than your peers.
When Are You Going To Do What You Say You Will Do?
Let’s do some maths.Don’t worry though,I am not going to bore you to death with it,promise.
Let’s calculate the life expectancy of an average person.
Let us assume that on an average, a person lives up to 75 years of age. That’s taking the average of a group of people.
Here we go:
Since we want to calculate the average number of days a 75-year-old lives for,we go something like this:
75 X 12 X 30
12 for the number of months in a year and 30 for the number of days in a month(leaving out the leap years).Very elementary.
Anyways, that multiplication provide us with a startling result:
Yup,you, a person who goes on to live for 75 years is actually living mere 27000 days!
This statistic sent me creeps when I first did it.It looks horrific when you put it this way.
But there’s more!
I assume you to be at least 18 years old.Now let’s calculate how much days are left for an 18 year old,if he lives up to 75 years:
18 X 12 X 30 = 6480
Subtracting this number from the earlier conclusion:
27000 – 6480 = 20520
Alright fella. We now infer that if you are an 18-year-old lad or lady, you have outlived 6480 days and are left with 20,520.If you are any older than that, you are in a worse shape.
Don’t feel guilty about it.Below 18 years of age,you are really just living like a parasite, sucking off all the resources of your parents. And it is excusable, actually.
But!If you are older than that,it’s time you plan things and start taking massive action.I mean, come on man,you just got 20,520 more days to live.Every day wasted,is a day you are not getting back. It’s gone and you lose it forever.
How are you going to spend the remaining days of your life?
When are you going to achieve your dreams? 10 years from now?
When are you going to do,whatever you speak you wish to do?
That decision, mate,I leave up to you.
Until Next Time…
